I teach creative nonfiction and I can’t tell you the number of times I’ve heard, ‘Oh, I wouldn’t have anything to write about. My life is so boring!’ But I’ve seen those same writers astound themselves with the meaningful essays and memoirs they create. In this seminar, using prompts − both fiction and nonfiction − we will explore what it means to share our story and how the smallest details can make the most compelling essays, if told well. We will also explore how the personal can become universal.
