Don Basnight Nominated for a Hippo Award!

Student News!

Exciting news -- former student Don Basnight was nominated for a Hippo Award at The Monti!

From The Monti website: "Every year, we celebrate the best of The Monti by holding the Hippo Awards.  The event is held every February after The Monti’s Board of Directors pores over the entire catalog of stories told at The Monti from January to December of the previous calendar year.  Stories are nominated in three categories: ComedyDrama, and Overall.  Once the nominations are set, it’s The Monti’s fan base that determines the winners by listening to the stories online and voting via Ballots." .

Don originally workshopped this story in one of our classes, but I could tell that he's done a lot of work on it since then. Watch his story below and if you're in the area I highly suggest you attend a night at The Monti!

Mysterious coyotes, float jugging, and the Cape Fear bear. Two cousins experience life and death on the rivers of North Carolina. Recorded live at our Into the Wild show at The Forest Theatre on October 13, 2017. Nominated for a 2017 Hippo Award for Best Dramatic story.
