My essay "Autonomy" in South of the Garden

The essay that won second place in the RCWMS annual essay contest was published the first week of June in South of the Garden. The prompt for this essay contest was “body autonomy.” Sometimes a prompt just comes at the right time. As someone who lives in a body that’s visibly different than others, I found that I had a lot to say about bodily autonomy and what it means from my perspective.

I am so thankful to RCWMS for the opportunity and for all of the work they do to support writers and artists.

My wish for this essay is that it finds the people who need to read it. You can read the essay in its entirety here.

Thanks for reading.
